Georgia Preps For Georgia Tech’s Triple-Option Offense

Although the Dawgs have won seven straight over the Yellow Jackets, the 472 yards of rushing Georgia Tech poured on the Miami Hurricanes last night should get their attention. The Jackets started slowly this season, but clicked on offense and embarrassed a confused a young Hurricanes team 41-23.
In Georgia Tech’s three losses this season, turnovers have been their Achilles heel as they lost the ball three times each game. Except for the game against Virginia, the Yellow Jackets turned in good offensive performances, especially on the ground. Below is a look at the stats for each of their losses:
Opponent | Score | Total Offense | Rushing Yards | Turnovers |
Virginia Tech | 17-20 | 387 | 278 | 3 |
Virginia | 17-24 | 259 | 156 | 3 |
North Carolina | 7-28 | 423 | 326 | 3 |
On the other side of the ball, the Georgia Bulldogs defense is surrendering only 104.5 yards rushing per game. In their two losses, the Dawgs gave up 129 yards to Alabama and 185 yards to Florida. They also gave up 188 yards to LSU and 226 to Kentucky, both Bulldog victories.
So what do you think? Will the injury-plagued Georgia defense be able to stand up to the ground assault of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets? Can the Dawgs finish the regular season 10-2 and earn a trip to the Capital One Bowl in Orlando?
