Georgetown, Indiana & UCLA join Georgia in 2012 Legends Classic in Brooklyn

Last month, we broke the news that the Georgia Bulldogs will participate in the 2012 Legends Classic in Brooklyn, New York. Today the AP has reported that Georgetown, Indiana and UCLA will be the other host teams.

Georgia is 1-1 all-time against the Georgetown Hoyas, 0-3 against the Indiana Hoosiers and 0-2 against the UCLA Bruins.

The brand new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will host the championship rounds on November 19-20, 2012. The arena, the future home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, will seat 18,103 for basketball and is scheduled to open on September 28, 2012.

The format of the tournament resembles the CBE Classic. Georgia is one of the four “host” schools and will play two games in Athens against teams from the travel pool between Nov. 11 and Nov. 15, 2012.

Georgia, Georgetown, Indiana and UCLA will then advance to play in the semifinals and championship/consolation game at Barclays Center (Nov. 19-20; televised by ESPN networks).

The rest of the tournament field and the semifinal bracket will be announced at a later date.

  • If you want to be regarded with the best, it starts with playing and winning against the best. I commend Coach Fox for what he is doing with our BB program. I know, as of yet, we haven't experienced the results we all want; however, I believe Coach Fox is the man to build the quality of program that we, as GaDog fans, can be proud of. Thank you Coach Fox! Count me as a die-hard GaDog fan!

    • I believe in Fox too. He just needs to sign some 4 and 5-star big men to be successful long term.
