Georgia beats Georgia Tech for 10th straight win
Aaron Murray threw four touchdown passes to lead Georgia over Georgia Tech 31-17. The win was the 10th in a row for the Dawgs.
Murray, who finished the game 19-of-29 for 252 yards, completed touchdown passes to Michael Bennett, Chris Conley, Tavarres King and Aron White.
With Isaiah Crowell out, the Bulldogs started Ken Malcome at tailback and also used Branden Smith. Malcome led the team with 39 yards on 12 carries while Smith rushed 5 times for 20 yards.
The defense was once again stout, bending but not totally breaking under the pressure of Georgia Tech’s rushing offense. The Yellow Jackets finished the game with 243 yards on the ground and only 112 through the air.
The Dawgs did lose defensive lineman DeAngelo Tyson to an injury after a illegal chop block on only the game’s second play quesiotnable low block on the game’s first play. He tried to stay in but pulled up lame on the second play. His status for the LSU game is uncertain.
The Bulldogs have now won 10 of the last 11 against Georgia Tech and their fifth in a row at Bobby Dodd Stadium. In addition, Mark Richt is now 10-1 against the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia finishes the regular season 10-2 and 7-1 in the SEC. Next Saturday, the Bulldogs face the no. 1 LSU Tigers in the 2011 SEC Championship Game in Atlanta (4:00 p.m. ET; CBS).
