Somto Cyril commits to UGA basketball
Somto Cyril, a four-star center from Atlanta, Ga., has committed to UGA basketball for the 2024 class.
Cyril (6-10, 240) was previously committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, but decommitted after UK head coach Jon Calipari accepted the same position at Arkansas.
Another huge commitment for Georgia men’s basketball, as former Kentucky center commit Somto Cyril has committed to the Bulldogs.

“These past few weeks have been a whirlwind,” Cyril told UGASports.com. “Coach White and his staff were very detailed in their approach, and it was a great feeling being in a place that had such a great family atmosphere.”
Somto Cyril also announced on Monday that he has entered his name into the 2024 NBA Draft.
“I want to take this time to get some much-needed feedback from NBA teams during the month of May,” Cyril continued. “This will allow not only myself and my family to have the information, but it will also provide my coaching staff with information about me as well going into the 2023-2024 season.”
Last season with the Cold Hearts of the Overtime Elite Professional League in Atlanta, Cyril averaged 8.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.4 blocked shots per game.
Somto Cyril is the fourth player to commit to Mike White and the Bulldogs this spring. The Bulldogs have also picked up transfer teammates De’Shayne Montgomery and Dakota Leffew from Mount St. Mary’s, as well as Justin Abson from Appalachian State.
The Bulldogs still have four spots to fill for the 2024-25 season following the departures of Justin Hill, RJ Melendez, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe, Mari Jordan, Jabri Abdur-Rahim, and Jalen DeLoach.
