5-Star RB Sony Michel Commits to the Georgia Bulldogs

Sony Michel has committed to UGA for 2014.

Five-star tight running back Sony Michel of American Heritage High School (Plantation, FL) has committed to play for the Georgia Bulldogs. He is the 5th commitment for UGA’s 2014 recruiting class.

“I’m going to be going to college at the University of Georgia,” Michel said live on ESPNU Friday night while putting on a UGA hat.

Michel (5-11, 205) committed to the Bulldogs over offers from most of the top schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, and South Carolina.

“Georgia was a wonderful place,” Michel told 247Sports. “The first time I stepped on campus, I loved it. Georgia is something different, and I also wanted to experience something different.”

Rivals.com rates Sony Michel as a 5-star recruit, the no. 2 running back in the country, and no. 5 in the Rivals100 2014. 247Sports also rates him 4-stars, the no. 2 running back, and no. 11 overall.

It was a great week on the recruiting trail for Mark Richt and the Bulldogs. Earlier this week, Georgia received a commitment from four-star tight end Jeb Blazevich. Michel and Blazevich join Georgia’s three other commitments Nick Glass (DB, Atlanta, GA), Dontavius Russell (DT, Carrollton, GA), and Krenwick Sanders (WR, Jesup, GA).

  • Hello Mr. Michel, my name is Chris, and I just want to introduce myself, and I want to say: Welcome to Georgia, and sir Please! Don't be like some of the other promising recruits, that said they was sticking with Georgia, and left us hanging on a broke limb, waiting to crack and fall, I'm a true Bulldogs fan, and I really want to see Georgia build a Championship Team before I die and leave this world... Thank You!! God Bless...
