Mark Fox scheduling quite the Road Trip in 2011

Although football practice started yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice this road trip that Mark Fox and Georgia have scheduled for themselves this year.

Yesterday, Georgia Sports Blog posted that Georgia may travel to Xavier on November 25 (via memphisdog). That rumor may have come from Dana and Victory.

If that date holds true, Mark Fox has scheduled quite the road trip for his young Bulldogs in 2011. Here’s the breakdown:

  • 11/21 – vs. California (at Kansas City, MO)
  • 11/22 – vs. Missouri or Notre Dame (at Kansas City, MO)
  • 11/25 – at Xavier
  • 11/28 – at Colorado

More than likely, the Hoop Dawgs will travel back to Athens after games in Kansas City and at Xavier. That means over the course of one week, the Bulldogs will travel over 4,600 miles.

And when the Dawgs finally return home, they’ll have Cincinnati waiting for them on Dec. 2, followed by Georgia Tech on Dec. 6. That’s a gauntlet for a young team that just lost their top two scorers to the NBA.

  • Just to clarify, former XU radio guy Andy MacWilliams tweeted the list of putative Xavier non-conference games last week. He said 11/25 but I suggest it's very unlikely XU would schedule a game for the Friday after Thanksgiving. So my guess is that the game will be played Saturday 11/26. We have a quick turnaround as well as we play at Vandy on Monday night (shorter trip than Boulder, though).
