Georgia offensive position battles to watch in Fall Camp

As Georgia heads into 2025 fall camp, there’s no shortage of intrigue on the offensive side of the ball. While the Bulldogs return plenty of talent, several important roles remain unsettled, and the outcomes of these battles could shape how far this offense can go.
Gunner Stockton enters camp as the likely starter at quarterback, but the job isn’t officially his yet, as Kirby Smart has not named a starter. Now, in his fourth year in Athens, Stockton has patiently waited for his turn. Yet, redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi brings a strong arm and plenty of confidence. While Stockton has the edge in experience and system knowledge, the spotlight will be on Puglisi to see how close he can make the race. A strong showing in camp could at least tighten the margin and keep the coaches thinking. Stockton is likely to have a shorter leash than Jake Fromm, Stetson Bennett IV, and Carson Beck have had over the years, especially if Puglisi gives the staff confidence in his play.
The wide receiver room might be the deepest in the Kirby Smart era, featuring an impressive mix of size, speed, and production. Dillon Bell, Noah Thomas, Colbie Young, and Zachariah Branch are penciled in to lead the charge, but the competition behind them is fierce. Sacovie White, entering his second season, is expected to push for more meaningful reps. London Humphreys, who transferred in from Vanderbilt a year ago and made some big plays for the Dawgs, is another name to watch. CJ Wiley and Jeremy Bell can climb the depth chart as well. With so many talented options, it’s a matter of who can separate themselves and earn the quarterbacks’ trust.
Up front, the offensive line is mostly set, but one starting spot remains up for grabs. Earnest Greene III and Monroe Freeling are locked in at tackle, with Micah Morris expected to start at left guard and Drew Bobo returning at center. That leaves right guard as the primary opening. Daniel Calhoun and Michael Uini, two second-year and physically gifted linemen, are battling for that final starting role. Both have high ceilings, but consistency and technique will likely determine who gets the nod when Georgia opens the season. Don’t count out true freshman Juan Gaston from getting in the mix either.
With talent across the board, Georgia’s offensive ceiling is high, but how these position battles shake out during camp could determine whether the Bulldogs can return to the top of the SEC and beyond.
