The Georgia Bulldogs are set to host one of the premier defensive prospects in the 2025 class. Four-star EDGE Landon Barnes will make his way to Athens the weekend of June 13th for an official visit. Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman reported that the Duncanville (Texas) standout will make the trip to Georgia part of a summer slate that includes stops at Washington, Ole Miss, and Ohio State.

Barnes, who hails from one of the country’s most dominant high school football programs at Duncanville, is a coveted pass rusher with elite size, athleticism, and long-term upside. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, he brings the kind of frame and explosiveness that fits perfectly within Georgia’s proven development model under head coach Kirby Smart and outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe. And when it comes to EDGE development, few programs have a stronger recent resume than Georgia.

The Bulldogs have churned out elite pass-rushing talent at an unmatched rate. Travon Walker, a former five-star recruit, became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Nolan Smith, a dynamic edge defender with a rare combination of speed and strength, went in the first round to the Philadelphia Eagles and helped them win a Super Bowl. Most recently, Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker, both five-stars developed under Glenn Schumann and Uzo-Diribe, were selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft because of their ability to set the edge in the run game and get after the passer.

That track record resonates with elite prospects like Barnes, who is looking for a place to take his game to the next level and ultimately reach the NFL. Georgia’s dominant defensive scheme, history of postseason success, and development pipeline give the Dawgs plenty of selling points heading into this key visit.

With multiple top pass rushers already in sight, Georgia hopes to solidify its standing with Barnes and show him firsthand what life in Athens and the nation’s most feared defense can offer. If all goes well, the Bulldogs could become a serious contender to land one of Texas’ top defensive talents.
