Georgia to play St. John’s in the Bahamas in November
The Georgia Bulldogs will face the St. John’s Red Storm at The Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas on Sunday, November 24, 2024, it was announced on Tuesday.
The game will be the second in a row for Georgia in the Bahamas, as the Bulldogs will face the Marquette Golden Eagles one day earlier on Saturday, Nov. 23. The Georgia-Marquette contest was officially announced by the school in January.
Georgia and St. John’s, as well as Georgia and Marquette, will play at the Imperial Ballroom at The Atlantis Paradise Island Resort. Complete Sports Management set up the contests.
“CSM is proud to host two powerhouse programs down in paradise,” said Lea Miller, CSM’s President. “We look forward to this compelling matchup early in the season.”
Georgia and St. John’s first met in basketball in 1946. The Bulldogs traveled to Queens, N.Y., for that contest and came away with a 66-43 loss.
The two schools have met an additional two times on the hardcourt with each team recording a victory. Georgia defeated St. John’s in an NCAA East Regional game in March of 1983, 70-67, and then lost on the road against the Red Storm, 66-56, in 2009.
Last month, the SEC announced Georgia’s opponents for the 2024-25 season. The Bulldogs will host Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt at Stegeman Coliseum.
Road SEC opponents include Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.
Georgia’s 2024-25 non-conference schedule has not yet been announced yet, but a few opponents are known in addition to the games against Marquette and St. John’s in the Bahamas.
The Bulldogs are slated to host South Carolina State at home on Dec. 29 and they will also travel to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The two in-state rivals will meet at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Ga., on a date to be determined.
