Georgia adds Winthrop, Mercer to 2023-24 basketball schedule
The Georgia Bulldogs have added the Winthrop Eagles and Mercer Bears to their 2023-24 basketball schedule, according to reports by Rocco Miller.
Per Miller, Georgia will host the Winthrop Eagles at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga., on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. The game will mark the eighth meeting between the two schools in basketball.
Georgia will host Winthrop as part of its 23-24 non-conference schedule, per sources.

Georgia and Winthrop first met in basketball during the 1993-94 season. In their most recent contest in 2017, the Bulldogs defeated the Eagles 87-82 to extend their advantage in the overall series to 6-1.
Miller has also reported that Georgia will host the Mercer Bears at Stegeman Coliseum on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. The game will mark the 79th overall meeting between the two schools.

The Georgia-Mercer series dates all the way back to the 1906-07 season. The two schools met most recently in 2014 when the Bulldogs survived the Bears in triple-overtime, winning 86-77.
On Monday, the SEC announced Georgia’s conference opponents for the 2023-24 season. Here’s a look at who the Hoop Dawgs will face in conference action:
HOME: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M
AWAY: Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt
Georgia’s 2023-24 non-conference schedule has not yet been officially announced yet, but most opponents have already been revealed. UGA will open the season against the Oregon Ducks at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023 in a contest that is part of the Naismith Hall of Fame Series.
The Bulldogs will also compete in the 2023 Baha Mar Bahamas Hoops Championship, an annual preseason college basketball tournament that is held at the Baha Mar Convention Center in Nassau, Bahamas. Georgia will open the tournament facing the Miami Hurricanes on Friday, Nov. 17 and will then play either the Kansas State Wildcats or Providence Friars in the championship or consolation game on Sunday, Nov. 19.
In other home non-conference action this season at Stegeman Coliseum, Georgia is scheduled to host Wake Forest on Friday, Nov. 10, Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday, Dec. 20, North Florida on Friday, Dec. 22, Alabama A&M on Saturday, Dec. 30, and Georgia Tech on a date to be announced.
