Date set for Georgia-Georgia Tech basketball game in 2022

The date has been set for the annual Georgia-Georgia Tech basketball game in 2022, UGA officially announced on Thursday.

Georgia will travel to take on Georgia Tech in the basketball edition of “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022.

The Bulldogs have not faced the Yellow Jackets at McCamish Pavilion since the 2018 season. Georgia was slated to play there in 2020, but the game was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Georgia will reportedly also play in Atlanta this season at State Farm Arena. The Bulldogs will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish there on Sunday, Dec. 18, per a report from the South Bend Tribune.

In other reported non-conference action this season, Georgia is  scheduled to host the Bucknell Bison (date to be announced) and the Chattanooga Mocs (Dec. 21) at Stegman Coliseum in Athens, Ga. The Bulldogs will also travel to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Friday, Nov. 11, which is the first game of a home-and-home series.

Georgia will also play two games in the 2022 Sunshine Slam. Georgia will compete in the “Beach Bracket” and will be joined by the UAB Blazers of Conference USA, Saint Joseph Hawks of the Atlantic 10, and the South Florida Bulls of the American Athletic Conference.

In SEC action this season, Georgia is scheduled to host Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Road SEC opponents include Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
