Report: Everett Golson to visit UGA on Tuesday

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson will visit the Georgia Bulldogs on Tuesday, according to Clint Brewster of 247Sports.

Golson, who has graduated from Notre Dame, has one year of eligibility remaining and is transferring from the school. He will also reportedly visit South Carolina on Monday.

As we mentioned yesterday, Golson may not be able to play for an SEC school due to bylaw 14.1.14.1. That section states that graduate transfers may receive financial aid if “the student-athlete has not been subject to official university or athletics department disciplinary action at any time during enrollment at any previous collegiate institution.”

Golson, however, was suspended from Notre Dame for the 2013 season due to academics. Obviously, he straightened up after that setback and now holds a degree.

If Mark Richt decides to bring Golson to Athens, he’ll likely battle redshirt sophomore Brice Ramsey and redshirt sophomore Faton Bauta for playing time.

Golson is more experienced, however, and even led the Fighting Irish to an undefeated regular-season in 2012 before falling to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game.

But there are obvious questions about how Golson would fit in with the Bulldogs. He’s never played in a pro-style offense and has been turnover prone. Last season, Golson threw 14 interceptions and fumbled eight times.

    • You're insane... He's better than any QB on that team right now. UGA fans such as yourself are part of the problem. Loyality only gets you 8-10 wins a year. He has proven he can win big games would do wonders for that team next year. Get your crap together dude....

  • SEC bylaws prevent him transferring to any school in the conference....he was kicked out of school for academic reasons, would take way longer than 1 year to get the SEC to give him a waiver, I swear people should do their homework before reporting crap

    • It wouldn't take longer than a year to get a waiver. He will find out from the SEC rather quickly if he can play in the conference or not.

  • After the Zach Mettenberg and Nick Marshall scenarios in which disciplined athletes moved on to start at other schools, I think the SEC owes Mark Richt a big bow of grace. In fact, the reason the SEC placed this rule into effect came about as a result of the Cam Newtons and Nick Marshalls of the world. Everett Golson is not in the same category. I wish some fans would think before posting their hate...
