Mark Schlabach of ESPN has released his Post-Spring Way-Too-Early Top 25 and the Georgia Bulldogs are ranked 8th.
Here’s what he has to say about the Bulldogs:
With quarterback Hutson Mason taking control of the offense and tailback Todd Gurley finally looking healthy, Georgia seems to be fine on offense heading into the offseason. The Bulldogs believe their offensive line should be better, especially with tackle John Theus finally recovering from a wrist injury that prevented him from doing much in the weight program the past couple of seasons. Gurley, who was dogged by groin and ankle injuries last season, looked explosive in the spring and will enter the 2014 season as a leading Heisman Trophy candidate. Tailback Keith Marshall, who missed much of last season with a torn ACL in his right knee, is expected to be at full strength by June. Georgia’s defense, however, remains a big concern under first-year coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. The Bulldogs have three legitimate All-SEC candidates in linebackers Jordan Jenkins, Leonard Floyd and Ramik Wilson. But Pruitt complained about many of his defensive linemen being overweight and out of shape, and Georgia’s secondary was inconsistent throughout the spring. The Bulldogs might have to count on junior college transfer Shattle Fenteng and a trio of incoming freshmen for immediate help.
First in Schlabach’s poll are the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles. They are followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, Auburn, Oregon, Michigan State, Ohio State, Georgia, Baylor, and South Carolina.

Too high.
its gonna be a struggle to get gurley, marshall, and mitchell healthy again, but with pruitt coming in to replace that clown grantham for defense, I think we have a legit shot to live up to this ranking
Gurley was healthy this spring. Agree on Marshall and Mitchell but #3 isn't an issue. If his health were an issue, he wouldn't have seen a snap in the spring game.
Based on who they have ranked above the Dawgs, I would say to low...Oklahoma, Ohio State, Oregon....nope not this year. The FSU crab legs.....well we shall see
As a UGA grad, I honestly think my Dawgs are " over-ranked"! With a very soft D, inexperience at QB, and questions on special teams, we'll be lucky to match 8-5 from last year. Did I mention that we have a good coach, but not a great coach - UGA deserves better!!!
FU at #19? Hard to see that based on the last couple of years.
Exactly
Should be ranked #1; offensively, we're stacked at all positions (the exception being QB & TE). Hutson will bring a wealth of experience to the offense. Defense & special teams will be much improved...fast & hard hitting. PREDICTION: SEC & National Champs.
To high right now for the Dawgs but perhaps later in the season, once again Oklahoma and Ohio State are too high. They are always given the love and even playing in their weak conferences they can't produce on the field. I have hope that by the end of the year the Dawgs will end up in the top 10.
Come on we are above South Carolina?
Could you imagine where we would be every year if we had a coach the could lock down the state of Georgia!!!!!
I appreicate all the love, but with all the talent we've signed ove the last few years it would seem that we just can't get ove the hump! In all years, our D use to besecond to none! Remeber, offense wins games but defense wins championships!
