  • thes guys r the real deal jt and jd r goin to lite it up on defense!!!! gooooo Dawwwwggggssss!!!!

  • The coaches in Region 3 A West may have slighted the Jenkins County Dynamic Duo. Our All American star was not selected as the top defensive player in his sub-region; that honor went to a player that has committed to play for Georgia State (The Class A State Champion Team came from the other side of the sub-region). Jonathan did make the 1st Team All Region 3 A West team along with his unheralded team mate Darius Carter. The second slight is that James Deloach was listed as 2nd Team behind team mate Darius Carter.

How much stock should we put in the coaches that play against our guys during the season? Does the fact that the experts have a wider perspective mean that the coaches in the region are wrong? What weight should be given to a team's record? Should an All-American defensive player be able to dominate in a game?

Is it possible that the coaches in the region are looking at real time game impact? Are our coaches looking at reputation rather than on field action? We are always in the top echelon in recruiting but we are often 2nd or 3rd tier within our conference. Are we choosing the very best players or is it that we have coaches that cannot coach? How much attention do our coaches pay to the coaches that actually compete against the recruits that we select? Are we letting some good players get away because we are spending our time looking at recruiting sites rather than getting feedback from both film AND the coaches that go against our recruits?

  • We should take a real close look at the freshmen and sophomores that made first or second team. We should look at every player on the all region teams regardless of whether or not they are picked up by the scouting industry. There are lots of excellent players that do not have the savvy or resources to get noticed by the recruiting industry. The Dawgs have got to start the process of filtering talent without regard to the efforts of the recruiting industry. We must establish a formal process of "better" utilizing our fan base to identify up and coming talent.
