ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia received the No. 7 national seed to the 2025 NCAA Baseball Championships and will be the top seed in the Athens (Ga.) Regional, May 30-June 2, it was announced Monday on ESPN2.

Georgia will be making is 15th NCAA Regional appearance. The Bulldogs (42-15) will open against Binghamton (29-24), winners of the America East Conference Tournament, on Friday at noon at Foley Field. The game will be available on the SEC Network and be available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network. Duke (37-19) is the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 seed Oklahoma State (28-23) here Friday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU).

The Bulldogs are 55-36 all-time in 14 NCAA Tournaments including 36-20 in NCAA Regionals. Georgia has won seven regional titles, four super regional championships and made six trips to the College World Series. The Bulldogs claimed the 1990 national title and reached the CWS Finals in 2008. Georgia will be playing host to a regional for the second consecutive year and eighth time in school history. Georgia is a top eight national seed for the second straight season and seventh time in school history.

“I told our guys don’t get caught up with what seed we are and focus on we got a game here Friday against Binghamton,” said Georgia’s Ike Cousins head baseball Wes Johnson. “We’ve been fortunate enough to have a good season and get a top eight national seed. You don’t need to get caught up in all the noise about what seed you are and that’s how you don’t make it out of your regional. We got a good, challenging regional, and we better be ready to play Friday.

“It helps to have experience,” Johnson added. “The beauty of our league is that we’ve played in some hostile places on the road. When we get Robbie (Burnett) and “Zabo” (Ryland Zaborowski) back, that gives our lineup some length. The teams in our regional can hit, and we better throw strikes and pitch. I feel our guys will be comfortable playing at home.”

Georgia is 3-0 all-time against Binghamton as they came to Athens in 2014 for a three-game series during the regular season. The Bulldogs hold a 9-7 edge in the series with Duke; however, the Blue Devils last came to Foley Field for the 2018 NCAA Regional and beat Georgia twice. Georgia is 1-1 against Oklahoma State, winning the 1990 College World Series with a 2-1 win over the Cowboys in Omaha. The next season, OSU posted a 3-2 win over Georgia in Baton Rouge, La., in the ABCA Classic.

In 2025, there are 16 four-team regionals that comprise the field of 64. The NCAA Tournament field, the top 16 seeds and the bracket all were released Monday on ESPN2. If a team wins its regional, it advances to a Super Regional, June 7-9 or 8-10. The winner of the Athens regional will face the winner of the Oxford, Miss. regional. The Ole Miss Rebels (40-19) garnered the No. 10 national seed and play host to Georgia Tech (40-17), Western Kentucky (46-12) and Murray State (39-13). In Super Regional action, eight sites play host to a best-of-three game series with the winners earning one of eight spots to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. (June 13-23). The super regional hosts will be announced on June 3rd by 10 a.m. ET.
