Willie Martinez, John Jancek & Jon Fabris Out at Georgia

Defensive coordinator and secondary coach Willie Martinez, defensive co-coordinator and linebacker coach John Jancek and defensive ends coach Jon Fabris are out at Georgia, Mark Richt announced today.

All three coaches have been asked to remain at Georgia for the upcoming bowl game. Coach Richt will conduct a media tele-conference at 5:00 p.m.

The Georgia defense has been disappointing the last few years under the direction of Willie Martinez, surrendering 37 points or more 8 times in the past 2 years.

Under Martinez’s watch (2005-present), the Dawgs have surrendered 30+ points 15 times. By comparison, the Dawgs only surrendered 30+ points 1 time from 2001 through 2004.

Possible replacements for Willie Martinez include Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp, Brian Van Gorder, Jon Tenuta and Tommy Tubberville.
