Georgia predicted to win 2026 SEC Championship at Media Days

The Georgia Bulldogs have been predicted to win the 2026 SEC Championship Game, according to a preseason poll of media in attendance at SEC Football Media Days.

Georgia received 88 votes to win the championship, which is slated for Saturday, December 5 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. The Texas Longhorns, who collected 57 votes, were predicted to be Georgia’s opponent in the SEC Championship Game.

The SEC begins playing a nine-game conference football schedule this season. The two teams with the best overall winning percentage in conference play will square off in the championship.

The Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2026 season on Saturday, September 5 against the Tennessee State Tigers at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will kickoff at 3:00pm ET and will be a streaming-only event on SEC Network+.
