Georgia to play Ole Miss or Tulane in College Football Playoff Quarterfinal
The Georgia Bulldogs will play Ole Miss or Tulane in the College Football Playoff, it was announced on Sunday.
Georgia (11-2) finished as the No. 3 team in the final College Football Playoff Rankings after defeating the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2025 SEC Championship Game, 28-7.
“The Sugar Bowl Committee is thrilled to host SEC Champion Georgia,” said Dorothy “Dottie” Reese, the president of the Sugar Bowl Committee. “We’re further excited to watch the First Round to find out whether Ole Miss or Tulane will earn the opportunity to compete against the Bulldogs. We look forward to hosting the fans of both teams for a wonderful time here in New Orleans, and we know the teams will put on a great show on New Year’s Day in the Superdome.”
The Bulldogs will take on the winner of the First Round matchup between Ole Miss and Tulane in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The game will be played on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., and it will be televised by ESPN at 8:00pm ET.
“It’s a tremendous honor for the Sugar Bowl to be a part of the College Football Playoff,” said Jeff Hundley, the chief executive officer of the Allstate Sugar Bowl. “We’re fully expecting the 92nd edition of the Sugar Bowl to be another memorable chapter in the organization’s history as we host the Georgia Bulldogs and the winner of the CFP First-Round Game between Ole Miss and Tulane. We’re guaranteed two outstanding college football programs with passionate fan bases. This is going to be another exciting time in New Orleans.”
This season’s College Football Playoff Semifinals will be hosted by the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.
The road to the title concludes with the College Football Playoff National Championship, set for Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
