Peyton Woodring named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week

Georgia football junior placekicker Peyton Woodring has been named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, the SEC announced Monday.

Peyton Woodring was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on both of his field goals and all five point after attempts (PATs) during Georgia’s 41-21 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville, Miss. Woodring’s made field-goal attempts were from 49 yards in the first quarter and 46 yards in the fourth quarter.

This is the first SEC weekly honor for Woodring this season. Woodring, who hails from Lafayette, La., was named to the the Lou Groza Award Watch List prior to the season.

Georgia’s next game is on Saturday, Nov. 15 at home against the No. 10 Texas Longhorns at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will be televised by ABC and streamed via ESPN3 at 7:45pm ET (Buy Tickets).
