Gunner Stockton named 2025 Maxwell Award semifinalist

Georgia football quarterback Gunner Stockton has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday.

The Maxwell Award, named after Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell, is an annual award given to the college football player of the year.

A few other players named Maxwell Award semifinalists include Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King, Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, and Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia.

The winner of the 2025 Maxwell Award will be announced live on ESPN at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.

Stockton, who has already been named to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2025 and to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Top 10, has completed 179-of-258 passes for 2,040 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. On the ground, Stockton has recorded 321 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Georgia Bulldogs are next scheduled to host the No. 10 Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will be televised by ABC and streamed via ESPN3 at 7:45pm ET (Buy Tickets).
