Georgia redshirt junior offensive lineman Drew Bobo has been named the the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).
Bobo, who plays center, guided the offensive line in its 44-41 overtime victory over the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville on Saturday. As the winner this week, Drew Bobo has been added to the Outland Trophy Watch List moving forward.
According to Pro Football Focus, Bobo’s stats on Saturday included 47 pass block snaps, zero pressures allowed, and an 85.0 pass block grade.
The Outland Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s best interior lineman. Last season, Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. took home the award.
Georgia Bulldogs that have claimed the Outland Trophy include defensive tackle Bill Stanfill in 1968 and, most recently, defensive tackle Jordan Davis in 2021.
Following a bye this weekend, the Bulldogs’ next game is on Saturday, Sept. 27 against the No. 14 Alabama Crimson Tide at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will be televised by ABC and streamed via ESPN3 at 7:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
