Zykie Helton commits to Georgia football

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have landed another key piece to their 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star interior offensive lineman Zykie Helton. The Carrollton (Ga.) standout announced his pledge to Georgia, giving the Bulldogs their 14th overall commitment in the class and their third along the offensive front.

Helton, who initially committed to Alabama in July 2023 before decommitting in March 2024, has been a priority target for Georgia ever since. Offensive line coach Stacey Searels identified Helton early on as a must-have due to his combination of physicality, intelligence, and versatility. That versatility is what truly sets Helton apart. As a sophomore, he manned the center position for Carrollton, one of Georgia’s top high school programs. Then, as a junior, Helton slid out to left tackle, showing the kind of athleticism and flexibility that translates well to the next level.
While his college future likely lies on the interior, whether at center or guard, Helton’s ability to play across the line makes him a valuable chess piece in Georgia’s offensive line room. He’s a tone-setter in the run game, using powerful hands and a strong base to move defenders off the ball. But he’s equally comfortable in pass protection, where his footwork and awareness have been on full display protecting former Carrollton quarterback Juju Lewis, now at Colorado.
Helton’s commitment further solidifies Georgia’s grip on the in-state offensive line talent. He joins North Gwinnett’s Zach Lewis and Buford’s Graham Houston in what’s shaping up to be another impressive haul for the Bulldogs in the trenches. With Searels continuing to target athletic, position-flexible linemen who can contribute across multiple spots, Helton fits the mold perfectly.
For Helton, staying home to play for a perennial national title contender like Georgia just made sense. And for the Bulldogs, keeping a player of his caliber in-state and away from SEC rivals is another recruiting win that could pay dividends down the road. With the 2026 class continuing to build momentum, Georgia’s commitment to dominating the line of scrimmage and doing it with homegrown talent is as strong as ever.
