Khamari Brooks commits to Georgia football

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs continue to dominate the recruiting trail in their home state, this time landing a major commitment from four-star EDGE rusher Khamari Brooks. The North Oconee standout chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, which had made a strong late push to pull Brooks away from Athens. But in the end, the proximity to home and Georgia’s consistent defensive development under Smart sealed the deal.
Brooks becomes the 19th commitment in Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class, which already ranks among the top six nationally. His pledge adds another high-ceiling pass rusher to what’s shaping up to be a deep and balanced defensive haul. At 6-foot-4 and nearly 230 pounds, Brooks brings the kind of athletic frame and high-motor effort that has become a hallmark of Georgia’s edge defenders in recent years.
Playing for one of the top programs in the state at North Oconee, Brooks has been a disruptive force on the defensive line, showing an ability to get off blocks quickly and apply consistent pressure in the backfield. His explosiveness off the edge and ability to bend make him a natural fit for the Bulldogs’ attacking defensive schemes.
While Alabama made things interesting, Georgia’s close-to-home appeal and track record with elite defenders proved too much to overcome. Brooks joins a growing list of in-state standouts electing to stay in the Peach State and suit up for the Dawgs, strengthening a long-standing recruiting strategy under Smart that continues to pay dividends.
And the momentum may not be slowing down anytime soon.
Georgia is firmly in the mix for several other top 2026 targets expected to make decisions in the coming days. The Bulldogs remain contenders for running back Jae Lamar, defensive lineman Corey Howard, receiver Craig Dandridge, offensive tackle Malaki Lee, and defensive back Chase Calicut. A strong close to June could vault Georgia’s class even higher in the rankings and put them in striking distance of the No. 1 overall spot.
With Brooks now in the fold, the Bulldogs continue to stockpile elite talent on defense — and there’s no sign they’re finished yet.
