Brady Marchese, the talented pass-catcher from Cartersville (Ga.) High School made it known Tuesday evening that he is shutting down his recruitment and remains fully committed to the University of Georgia. The move comes just hours after a whirlwind of speculation around his status, most notably a public flip prediction made by On3’s lead recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong, who forecasted Marchese to flip his commitment from Athens to Ann Arbor.
Michigan had recently ramped up its pursuit of Marchese, pushing hard in what many believed to be a serious threat to Georgia’s hold on the blue-chip receiver. That pursuit seemed to gain traction when Wiltfong, one of the most respected names in the recruiting industry, placed his prediction in favor of Michigan earlier on Tuesday. Usually, when that happens, the “Fong-Bombs”, as they are called, don’t miss.
But Georgia didn’t flinch, and quite honestly, in this era of revenue sharing and NIL, the Dawgs likely fortified their offer to Marchese. Whatever the pitch or leverage used, it worked.
Just hours later, Hayes Fawcett of On3 posted a graphic via social media with a firm message from Marchese himself: “I’m shutting down my recruitment. I’m locked in with Georgia.” That post immediately sent a message to the college football world: Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs aren’t letting this one slip away. Smart has placed a premium on in-state athletes, and Marchese is one of the best that the Peach State has to offer.
Marchese, who committed to Georgia back on March 15, has long been viewed as a high-potential piece of the Bulldogs’ 2026 recruiting class. Known for his polished route running, strong hands, and physicality at the catch point, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver has quickly risen in national rankings and on the radar of college scouts.
Georgia fans can breathe a little easier knowing that Marchese’s commitment is firm. The Bulldogs have built a strong relationship with the in-state standout, and his reaffirmation solidifies Georgia’s grip on one of the top skill players in the Southeast.
With the message now clear, Marchese is shutting down all communication with other programs and will continue building toward a future in Athens, where he’ll be a key target in the Bulldogs’ future passing attack for fellow Dawg commit, 2026 quarterback Jared Curtis.
