Georgia’s dominant run on the recruiting trail in the 2026 cycle continued on Wednesday with a significant addition in the trenches, as elite offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound standout from South Garner High School in Garner, North Carolina, has visited Athens frequently in recent months. This past weekend’s official visit appears to have sealed the deal, as Georgia once again flexed its recruiting muscle against national powers like Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

Ogboko, ranked as the No. 6 offensive tackle and No. 68 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings, adds significant firepower to a Georgia class already considered among the nation’s best. He becomes the 17th commitment in the Bulldogs’ 2026 group, which currently sits at No. 5 in the national rankings according to On3.

Georgia’s longstanding connection with the Ogboko family undoubtedly played a key role. Ekene is the younger brother of Georgia defensive lineman Nnamdi Ogboko, who is entering his second season in Athens. That familiarity helped the younger Ogboko build strong bonds with Kirby Smart’s staff, including offensive line coach Stacy Searels, who has been involved in his initial recruitment.

In interviews, Ogboko stated that the clarity and strength of the Bulldogs’ development plan ultimately separated Georgia from the competition. Ogboko returned from his official visit highly impressed by the detailed blueprint for his growth, both on and off the field. The program’s structure under Smart and the proven offensive line development track record gave Georgia the edge down the stretch.

With Ogboko in the fold, Georgia adds another high-upside lineman with prototypical SEC size, athleticism, and power. His commitment not only strengthens the 2026 class but also sends another strong message about Georgia’s ability to land elite talent nationally, even in hotly contested battles.

As the Bulldogs gear up for another major recruiting weekend, the addition of Ogboko builds momentum. It reinforces Georgia’s position as one of the premier destinations for the nation’s top offensive linemen.
