The Georgia Bulldogs have secured their most highly rated wide receiver duo since the Class of 2020, with the additions of Tayln Taylor and CJ Wiley in the 2025 recruiting cycle. According to On3’s national rankings, both players rank among the nation’s top pass-catching prospects, and are each inside the top 89 prospects in the nation overall, making their signings a major win for Kirby Smart and the Georgia offense. Their arrival in Athens signals a continued push for offensive firepower and is a welcomed addition in the pursuit of explosive plays.

Georgia’s Highest-Ranked WR Duo in Five Years

The last time Georgia signed a receiver tandem of this caliber was in 2020 when the Bulldogs landed the trio of Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Jermaine Burton, and Arian Smith. All three of those prospects were ranked in the top 80 prospects in America. That group helped transform Georgia’s passing game and was a key part of the 2021 and 2022 national championships for Georgia. The hope now is that Taylor and Wiley do the same.

Talyn Taylor, a five-star prospect, is ranked even higher than former Georgia star George Pickens was in the Class of 2019. Taylor is the No. 23 prospect overall and the fourth-ranked receiver in the country in the 2025 class. Pickens was No. 25 overall and the fifth-ranked receiver in his class. Pickens, of course, went on to become a key playmaker for Georgia and is now an emerging star in the NFL. Taylor is a smooth route runner and does a great job creating separation out of breaks. If Taylor lives up to his billing, he has the potential to be one of the best receivers in the country.

CJ Wiley, a high four-star recruit, adds something that Georgia desperately needed in the 2024 season — size. Standing nearly 6’4″ tall, the former Milton High School superstar will give Georgia a true red zone and 50-50 ball target for the next few seasons. Sometimes size comes at the expense of explosiveness, but that is not the case with Wiley. Wiley has solid straight-line speed and is a very fluid route runner.

Strong Depth Allows for Development

While Taylor and Wiley are elite talents, they won’t have to carry the burden of being immediate No. 1 options in Georgia’s passing attack. The Bulldogs have loaded up on receiver talent via the transfer portal, securing 6’6″ receiver Noah Thomas (Texas A&M) and dynamic slot man and punt returner Zachariah Branch (USC). Both bring a wealth of experience and playmaking ability and can be players and teammates that Taylor and Wiley can learn from, in terms of adjusting to the college game.

Additionally, Georgia returns key contributors Dillon Bell and Nitro Tuggle, and there’s a chance that Colbie Young could return to the team after serving a suspension due to legal issues. With this depth, Taylor and Wiley will be able to ease into the rotation, but expectations will remain high that they will contribute in year one.

Early Reports: Taylor and Wiley Impressing in Athens

Despite only being on campus for a brief period between Early National Signing Day and the Sugar Bowl, both Taylor and Wiley have already made strong first impressions. Reports out of Athens suggest that the duo flashed their elite talent during practice sessions, showcasing their route-running ability, hands, and athleticism.

Their early success indicates that they could see meaningful snaps as true freshmen, especially in rotational and situational roles. Georgia’s offense under Mike Bobo is best when it is a more balanced attack. Georgia struggled running the football efficiently in 2024 and adding elite receivers like Taylor and Wiley should only make the run game better and the passing game more explosive off of play-action.

Looking Ahead

While Georgia’s veteran receivers will likely handle the majority of the workload in 2025, the long-term vision for Taylor and Wiley is clear—both are expected to be cornerstone pieces of the Bulldogs’ offense in the years to come. Their arrival gives Georgia one of the most talented receiver rooms in the nation and positions the Bulldogs for continued dominance in the SEC and in college football as a whole.
