Georgia basketball ranked for first time since 2011

The Georgia Bulldogs basketball team has returned to the national college rankings for the first time since 2011, a drought of 14 years.
Georgia, 14-2 overall and 2-1 in SEC action, moved into the rankings following its 82-69 win at home over the N0. 6 Kentucky Wildcats on Tuesday (No. 7 Coaches) and 72-62 win over the No. 17 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday (No. 16 Coaches).
Georgia garnered the No. 23 spot in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll that were released on Monday.
The Bulldogs were last ranked in the AP Poll on Jan. 10, 2011 and were last ranked in both national polls on March 10, 2003 when they were No. 21 and No. 22 in the AP and Coaches polls, respectively.
The Hoop Dawgs are next scheduled to face the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 15 (8:00pm ET, SEC Network). Georgia’s next home game is slated for Saturday, Jan. 18 against the top-ranked Auburn Tigers (1:00pm ET, SEC Network).
