Daniel Okonkwo, a three-star defensive back from Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Ga., has committed to Georgia football for the class of 2025.

Okonkwo announced his commitment to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs just before midnight on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Okonkwo (6-0, 190) was previously committed to the Northern Illinois Huskies of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), but flipped his commitment to the Bulldogs last night. He also held an offer from the Bryant Bulldogs.

“I would like to thank Northern Illinois University for seeing what I give on and off the field, and taking the risk on me to become a Huskie,” Okonkwo wrote on his X account. “Even though I did not end up signing today, I will never forget the opportunity nor take it for granted, and I am beyond grateful for everything. But hard and long conversations have been held amongst my coaches and my family. And with that being said, after a great conversation with Coach Robinson and Coach Smart, I am verbally flipping my commitment to the University of Georgia.”

In the 247Sports Composite, Daniel Okonkwo is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 64 safety, and the No. 748 overall recruit in the country for 2025.

With the addition of Daniel Okonkwo, Georgia now has 28 commitments for the class of 2025. UGA’s class is currently ranked third in the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Yesterday, Georgia signed 25 of its 27 commitments, with only DB Jaylan Morgan and QB Hezekiah Millender remaining. Georgia is also hoping to land 5-star DE Justus Terry’s commitment on Friday.
