Ratledge, Thorson named Co-SEC Players of the Week following Tennessee win

Georgia football offensive lineman Tate Ratledge and punter Brett Thorson have each been named Co-SEC Players of the Week, the SEC announced Monday.

Ratledge, who hails from Rome, Ga., was named the SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the Bulldogs’ 31-17 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers. Per the release, Ratledge graded out at 70 percent with one pin and one knockdown, while helping protect QB Carson Beck to complete 25-of40 passes for 347 yards.

Ratledge shared the weekly honors with Texas offensive guard Hayden Conner.

Brett Thorson, a native of Melbourne, Australia, was named Co-SEC Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the victory over the Vols. Thorson had four punts for an average of 44.2 yards, a long of 53 yards, and landed two punts inside the 20. He also had a touchdown saving tackle in the first quarter.

Florida placekicker Trey Smack was also named Co-SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Georgia Bulldogs are next scheduled to host the UMass Minutemen on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will be televised by the SEC Network at 12:45pm ET (Buy Tickets).
