McVey transferred from Gilmer to Overtime Elite this summer. He committed to Georgia over offers from several top schools, including Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Stanford.
Jackson McVey is Mike White and Georgia’s third verbal commitment for the 2025 class. Kareem Stagg, a four-star center from IMG Academy, committed to Georgia earlier this month. Last fall, Jacob Wilkins, the son of UGA legend Dominique Wilkins, announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.
In the 247Sports Composite, Jackson McVey is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 45 center, and the No. 245 overall recruit in the country for 2025. Rivals.com also rates McVey as a three-star recruit.
“It’s been a long journey,” McVey said during his announcement ceremony in Atlanta. “For the longest time, I felt I was being overlooked as a recruit. But I kept my head down, kept working hard, and gave myself the opportunity that I have today.”
The Georgia Bulldogs returned to the hardcourt on Saturday with an 86-59 exhibition win against the Charlotte 49ers on the road. Georgia will play another exhibition contest at home in Athens, Ga., against the UCF Knights on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Georgia officially opens the 2024-25 season on Monday, Nov. 4 at home at Stegeman Coliseum against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.
