Georgia remains fifth in AP Poll after win over Mississippi State

The Georgia Bulldogs, who defeated Mississippi State on Saturday, 41-31, have remained fifth in the AP Poll for Week 8.

Georgia received 1,300 points in the AP Poll, which is one greater than it received in the Week 7 poll. The Texas Longhorns retained the top spot in the AP Poll following a 34-3 win over Oklahoma Saturday, followed by Oregon, Penn State, and Ohio State.

In the Coaches Poll, the Bulldogs garnered 1,189 points, up from the 1,174 points it received last week. That was enough to keep Georgia at No. 4, just ahead of Ohio State. The top three in the Coaches Poll is the same as the AP Poll — Texas, Oregon, and Penn State.

The Georgia Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 SEC) are next scheduled to visit the top-ranked Texas Longhorns (6-0, 3-0 SEC) on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. The game will be televised by ABC at 7:30pm ET (Buy Tickets).
