UGA junior running back Trevor Etienne has been named to the 2024 Doak Walker Award Watch List, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Tuesday.

Etienne is one of 88 student-athletes named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List this season. The list also features 2023 Doak Walker Award recipient Ollie Gordon II from Oklahoma State, who is seeking to become the third two-time recipient of the award.

The Doak Walker Award “was created in 1989 to recognize the nation’s premier running back for his accomplishments on the field, achievement in the classroom and citizenship in the community.”

Ten semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award will be named in November, and three finalists will be announced later that month. The recipient of the 2024 Doak Walker Award will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards show on Thursday, Dec. 12 live on ESPN.

Etienne, a native of Jennings, La., transferred to Georgia after playing two seasons with the Florida Gators. In those two seasons, Etienne rushed 249 times for 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns and also caught 30 passes for 238 yards and one touchdown.

Trevor Etienne was also named to the 2024 Paul Hornung Award Watch List last week, which is an annual award given to the most versatile player in college football by the Louisville Sports Commission.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
