Branson Robinson named to 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List
UGA redshirt sophomore running back Branson Robinson has been named to the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List, it was announced on Wednesday.
Robinson is one of 89 college football student-athletes named to the Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List this season.
The Comeback Player of the Year Award was created in 2018 by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) in association with The Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl Organization. The award recognizes student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances.
At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored asΒ Comeback Player of the Year AwardΒ winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
Branson Robinson (5-10, 220) hails from Canton, Miss. During his freshman season in 2022, he rushed 68 times for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson also caught one pass for two yards.
Just prior to the 2023 season kickoff, Robinson suffered a ruptured patella tendon and missed all 14 games.
The Georgia Bulldogs are set to open the 2024 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The game will be televised live by ABC at noon ET (Buy Tickets).
