UGA football sophomore running back Branson Robinson is out for the 2023 season after suffering a ruptured patella tendon, it was announced on Wednesday.
Tough news at RB for Georgia. Kirby Smart said Branson Robinson is out for the season after sustaining a noncontact ruptured patella tendon. "Tough, tough break for him," Smart said.

Branson Robinson (5-10, 220) hails from Canton, Miss. Last season, Robinson rushed 68 times for 330 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught one pass for two yards.
In a win over the Auburn Tigers in 2022, Robinson had a season-high 98 yards on 12 carries, which was highlighted by a 15-yards touchdown run. He was subsequently named the SEC Freshman of the Week for his efforts.
Robinson was likely set to be the third running back this season behind Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards. Leading up to the season, he was named one of Bruce Feldman’s College Football Freaks.
Hopefully Branson Robinson makes a full recovery and can be back between the hedges next season.
Georgia is set to open the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 against the UT Martin Skyhawks at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. The game will kickoff at 6:00pm ET and will be a streaming-only event on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.
