UGA leads College Football Playoff Rankings for third consecutive week
The Georgia Bulldogs top the 2023 College Football Playoff Rankings for the third consecutive week, the CFP selection committee announced on Tuesday.
Georgia held onto the top spot after defeating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 31-23, in Atlanta, Ga. Rounding out the top four are No. 2 Michigan (12-0), No. 3 Washington (12-0), and No. 4 Florida State (12-0).
If the rankings remain the same on Sunday, Georgia would face Florida State in a College Football Playoff Semifinal matchup, likely in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, La.
Oregon is ranked fifth this week, followed by Ohio State, who dropped four spots after its defeat at Michigan. Texas and Alabama are again ranked seventh and eighth, respectively.
The undefeated Bulldogs have recorded three victories over teams that are currently ranked by the College Football Playoff — 52-17 over 11th-ranked Ole Miss, 30-21 over ninth-ranked Missouri, and 38-10 over 21st-ranked Tennessee. Georgia will face No. 8 Alabama in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 2.
The Bulldogs are currently ranked number one in the AP Poll and US LBM Coaches Poll.
