Brock Bowers named 2023 Mackey Award finalist
UGA football junior tight end Brock Bowers has been named a 2023 John Mackey Award finalist, The Friends of John Mackey have announced.
The John Mackey Award is given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end. Bowers is one of three finalists along with Ohio State’s Cade Stover and Colorado State’s Dallin Holker.
Last season, Brock Bowers took home the John Mackey Award over Sam LaPorta of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Michael Mayer of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The winner of the 2023 John Mackey Award will be announced in December and then presented at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show live on ESPN.
Brock Bowers hails from Napa, Calif. In his three seasons in Athens, Bowers has caught 170 passes for 2,485 yards (14.6 avg.) and 26 touchdowns. He has also rushed 19 times for 193 yards and five touchdowns.
Bowers was injured in Georgia’s seventh game of the 2023 season. He missed the Florida and Missouri games, played against Ole Miss and Tennessee, and was held out against Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Top-ranked Georgia is set to face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2023 SEC Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 2. The contest will kickoff at 4:00pm ET with television coverage via CBS.

Brock Bowers is the best overall football player in the country! I wish UGA had one more season with him!!
