Peyton Woodring named SEC Freshman of the Week for third time
UGA football true freshman place-kicker Peyton Woodring has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the SEC announced on Monday.
Peyton Woodring, a native of Lafayette, La., was named SEC Freshman of the Week following his performance in the 37-20 victory on the road at the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday. Woodring connected on all three of his field goal attempts, including a career-long 44-yarder, and he also went 4-for-4 on point-after-attempts.
Woodring’s 44-yard field goal came on a 19-play, 60-yard drive to open the second half that spanned eight minutes and 30 seconds and gave the Bulldogs a 27-7 edge.
This is the third-consecutive week that Peyton Woodring has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, which is the first time this has occurred since Nick Chubb in 2014. Woodring was honored for his performance in the Week 5 win at Auburn and Week 6 home victory over Kentucky.
The Bulldogs’ next game is on Saturday, Oct. 28 against the Florida Gators at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. The game will be televised by CBS at 3:30pm ET.
