Russel Tchewa, who has played for the USF Bulls since the 2020-21 season, announced on Monday that he will transfer to play for Mike White and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Tchewa began his college career at Texas Tech before transferring to USF in 2020. He re-entered the transfer portal on April 4.

Head coach Mike White shared his reaction on Twitter following Tchewa’s decision.

Russel Tchewa, a 7-foot, 280-pound center, started in 29 of 30 games last season and averaged 11.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He also recorded 27 assists, 19 steals, and eight blocked shots.

“I had a good feeling with the (Georgia) staff,” Tchewa told Rivals.com. “They recruited me hard and called every day. Then, they sent me videos showing how I will improve there and help them win. They think I can help them get to the postseason. I just felt really comfortable with them.”

Tchewa is the third player to transfer to play for Mike White and the Bulldogs since the 2022-23 season concluded. He joins transfers Jalen DeLoach from VCU and R.J. Melendez from Illinois.

In high school, Tchewa was rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 70 center, and the No. 415 overall recruit in the 247Sports Composite.
