Georgia takes over the top spot in the AP Poll for Week 3

The Georgia Bulldogs, who defeated the Samford Bulldogs 33-0 on Saturday, have taken over the top spot in the AP Poll for Week 3.
Georgia received 1,561 points in the AP Poll, which is up 50 points from the Week 2 poll. The Bulldogs also received 53 first-place votes, 36 more than they received last week.
The Bulldogs jumped Alabama for the top spot after the Crimson Tide struggled to win on the road against the unranked Texas Longhorns, 20-19. The Crimson Tide converted a field goal with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game to claim the victory.
Georgia remained at No. 2 in the Coaches Poll for Week 3. The Bulldogs received 1,574 points and 25 first-place votes, which is up 32 points and eight first-place votes from Week 2.
The Bulldogs’ next game is their SEC opener on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, Sept. 17. The game will be televised by ESPN at 12:00pm ET.
South Carolina is currently 1-1 following their season-opening win over Georgia State, 35-14, and loss on Saturday at No. 16 Arkansas, 44-30.
