Georgia announces 2022-23 SEC basketball schedule
The SEC portion of Georgia’s 2022-23 basketball schedule was officially announced by the conference on Wednesday. The 2022-23 season will be the first under head coach Mike White.
The Bulldogs open up SEC play on Wednesday, January 4, at home at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga., against the Auburn Tigers. Other conference home games for Georgia include Mississippi State (Jan. 11), Vanderbilt (Jan. 21), South Carolina (Jan. 28), Ole Miss (Feb. 7), Kentucky (Feb. 11), LSU (Feb. 14), Missouri (Feb. 25), and Florida (Feb. 28).
Road SEC games for the Bulldogs include Florida (Jan. 7), Ole Miss (Jan. 14), Kentucky (Jan. 17), Tennessee (Jan. 25), Auburn (Feb. 1), Texas A&M (Feb. 4), Alabama (Feb. 18), Arkansas (Feb. 21), and South Carolina (March 4).
“The SEC is now the top conference in college basketball, much like it has been in football for years,” head coach Mike White said. “We’re excited that our schedule is set, and this team is working extremely hard to be prepared for the challenges the league presents in every game. This team is extremely dedicated to our ultimate goal to rebuild Georgia Basketball.”
Georgia opens the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, November 7 against the Western Carolina Catamounts. Other non-conference opponents scheduled to visit Stegeman Coliseum this season include Miami OH (Nov. 14), Bucknell (Nov. 18), ETSU (Nov. 27), Hampton (Nov. 30), Florida A&M (Dec. 2), Chattanooga (Dec. 21), and Rider (Dec. 28).
The Bulldogs will travel to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Friday, Nov. 11 and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Georgia is also scheduled to compete in the 2022 Sunshine Slam at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. Georgia will face St. Joseph’s in the first round on Monday, Nov. 21, followed by either South Florida or UAB in the championship or consolation game on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
The Bulldogs are also scheduled to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a Holiday Hoopsgiving 2022 game. The contest will be played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday, Dec. 18.
The 2023 SEC Basketball Tournament is slated for March 8-12 and will be played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
