The Georgia Bulldogs have added the Florida A&M Rattlers to their 2028 football schedule, per a release from FAMU on Thursday.
Georgia will host Florida A&M at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2028. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
“We want to provide our student-athletes and fans with an opportunity to see our teams compete against the best in the country,” Florida A&M athletic director Kortne Gosha said. “We also want to make sure that we are providing much needed financial support to the program while putting our student-athletes in the best possible position to be successful. These games are very important to our success as a department, and we are fortunate to be in a position to work with colleagues at these institutions to schedule these games and we look forward to competing at a high level for many years to come.”
Florida A&M is officially departing the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and will join the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) on July 1, 2021.
The addition of Florida A&M completes Georgia’s non-conference schedule for the 2028 season. The Bulldogs are also slated to play at Texas on Sept. 1 and host Florida State on Sept. 16 and Georgia Tech on Nov. 25.
The Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2021 season on Saturday, Sept. 4 against the Clemson Tigers in the Dukes Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
