Wofford kicker David Marvin has announced that he has accepted a full scholarship offer to kick for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2017.
Marvin, a rising Senior, made the announcement on National Signing Day via his Twitter account.
David Marvin played for East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte before joining the Wofford Terriers in 2013. He redshirted during the 2013 season.
In 2016, Marvin made 17-of-23 field goals, including kicks from 47, 48, 50, 51, and 57 yards (twice). He also punted 46 times for a total of 2,124 yards (46.17 avg.) and was 41-of-42 on extra points.
Marvin also handled the kickoff duties for the Terriers in 2016. He kicked off 75 times for 4,628 yards (61.7 avg.) and 37 touch-backs.
With Marvin claiming a full scholarship, it’s unclear what the status of Georgia’s Rodrigo Blankenship will be. Blankenship had a good season for the Dawgs, but his father has been very vocal in expressing that Rodrigo deserves a scholarship.
“Our son being refused a scholarship is an injustice to him as well as a crushing hardship for his family,” Ken and Izabel Blankenship said last month in an email to OnlineAthens.com.
“He’s staying with the program,” his father said at the time.

I know there's more to the politics of this situation than I'm aware of, but I kind of agree with Blankenship's Dad. That kid stepped up and had a fine season. Why recruit a scholarship kicker? I suppose the competition will be good for everyone. What if Blankenship beats out Marvin for the starting position? Will he then get a scholarship?
Cant say much about a family effect around Georgia but Smart was not hired to be a nice guy and do right by the players he was hired to win more than Ten games a season
