UGA sets “Black Out” and “Red Out” games in 2016

Six home football games in 2016 have been designated as either a “Black Out” or “Red Out” for the fans, UGA has announced.

Fans are encouraged to wear black to “Black Out” the UL Lafayette game on November 19. It remains to be seen if the Georgia Bulldogs football team will wear black jerseys.

Earlier this month, UGA athletics director Greg McGarity told DawgNation that the Bulldogs will wear black jerseys in a game this season.

“Whenever the black jerseys are worn, people will know well in advance of it,” McGarity said. “It’s not a gimmick; it won’t be a surprise. It will be up to Coach Smart to make that call, but it will be a home game.”

Georgia has designated five home games as “Red Outs” in 2016. Fans are encouraged to wear red for Nicholls State (Sept. 10), Tennessee (Oct. 1), Vanderbilt (Oct. 15), Auburn (Nov. 12), and Georgia Tech (Nov. 26).

Several other announcements were made by UGA for the 2016 season, including Sanford Stadium enhancements, special events, and other items.

  • Why? One a year is good enough. Stop taking away the authenticity of my Gameday wardrobe and what color I choose to wear every game.

    • Let the wear Black, maybe it'll be the nod to the end of Smart. The authenticity of your game day wardrobe needs to include black!! If you don't have "Red and Black" in your wardrobe than you truly are not a Real UGA fan!
