Georgia beats no. 2 Florida 17-9
The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Florida Gators 17-9 Saturday night. The win improves Georgia’s record to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC.
Georgia’s defense was the story of the day, forcing six Gator turnovers. All-American linebacker Jarvis Jones led the defense with 13 tackles, five for loss, three sacks and two forced fumbles.
Overall, Georgia’s defense held the Gators to only 266 yards.
Quarterback Aaron Murray completed 12 of 24 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown to Malcolm Mitchell late in the fourth quarter. Mitchell led all receivers with five receptions for 74 yards and a TD.
On the ground, Todd Gurley led the Dawgs with 118 yards on 27 carries.
With the win, Georgia now controls their own destiny in the SEC East. Wins over Ole Miss and Auburn will send the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship Game in December.
Georgia’s next game is Saturday, Nov. 3 vs. Ole Miss. The game will kickoff at either noon or 3:30 p.m. ET. An announcement will be made on Sunday or Monday.
