UGA BasketballGeorgia basketball has set their 2012 season opener against Jacksonville University, according to a document obtained from UGA.

Georgia will host the Jacksonville University Dolphins in Athens on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012. The Bulldogs have faced Jacksonville 8 times overall and won each contest. Their last meeting was on Dec. 19, 2006 under former head coach Dennis Felton.

Jacksonville will receive $85,000 per terms of the contract. The agreement is for one game only and a tip-off time was not announced. Judging by past openers, it will likely be at 7 p.m. ET.

The addition of Jacksonville gives the Hoop Dawgs nine confirmed games on their 2012-13 basketball schedule. Georgia will also host Mercer and USC in Athens along with two regional games in the 2012 Legends Classic.

The Dawgs will travel to face Georgia Tech, an opponent to be determined in the 2012 Big East/SEC Challenge and two opponents in the Legends Classic semifinals and championship/consolation. Those two opponents will be from the pool of Georgetown, Indiana and UCLA.

Georgia will also get some valuable preseason playing experience this summer when they visit Italy August 3-12. The Dawgs will play 2-3 games against Italian pro-club teams.
