Isaiah Crowell, Carlton Thomas, Ken Malcome Suspended for Saturday’s New Mexico State Game

Running backs Isaiah Crowell, Carlton Thomas and Ken Malcome have each been suspended for the New Mexico State game this Saturday, UGA head coach Mark Richt has announced.

“We have certain standards in all that we do and their actions do not reflect the Georgia way,” said Richt. “They will serve their suspensions, learn a lesson and I’m sure be better men for it.”

The UGA trio have been suspended for an unspecified “violation of team policies.” The news of the suspensions hurts as Richard Samuel underwent surgery this morning and will be out at least four weeks.

Crowell leads the Bulldogs with 724 yards on 145 carries and five touchdowns. Richard Samuel is second with 240 yards and a touchdown while Carlton Thomas has 200 yards and one touchdown.

Ken Malcome, who briefly left the team in September, has only one carry on the season.

So who is left to carry the ball this weekend for the Dawgs against New Mexico State? Former walk-on Brandon Harton has 11 carries for 34 yards and Wes Van Dyk has one rush for one yard.

As DawgPost.com reports, the Georgia could use cornerbacks Brandon Boykin or Branden Smith. They have both played the position in the past.

  • You are letting your team mates down, the fans, as well as yourselves. I don't think some of you ever learn your lesson.

  • If UGA players aren't getting arrested they're getting suspended...while Richt acted and suspended these guys I feel like if he was a little more intense and not so damned lackadaisical maybe the players would have some discipline. It's interesting that we don't know what they did. Just hope the idiots get their crap together for Auburn...oh and here's to the gamecocks getting beat by Florida or Arkansas...then we can get destroyed by LSU or Bama in the SEC championship :-)

  • I'm just wondering how much character , stamina and endurance crowell has. he's always motioning for the coaches to take him out. Somehow I don't remember herschel, garrison(whom I taught in 8th grade), and champ (I was his principal when he was in 7th grade),always asking to be taken out of the game. They all 3 came from little class A schools, but left a pretty good legacy.

    • Kinda off topic, but i agree. Its not just crowell though, Murray seems like he cant get his head in the game, the defense always looks exhausted too always leaning with their hands against their legs. Not to mention that the blockers for special teams need to learn to build up speed before smith and boykin get to them. Oh, and how about our all star kicker and punter. lol. Last is something that is about to drive me crazy this season, weak little attempts at tackles. Really, a little arm slap and you think someone is going down? Get the angle and wrap these guys up.

  • This should be interesting, seeing walk-ons to UGA run all over NMSU starter D. Maybe see Figgins do 20 FB Dive's (mix it up left or right). Guess we'll see ...
    GOOOOO DAAAAWWWWGGGGSSS
