Georgia rolls over New Mexico State 63-16

UGAAaron Murray threw five touchdown passes in the 2nd quarter as the 18th ranked Georgia Bulldogs rolled over the New Mexico State Aggies 63-16. Georgia has now won seven consecutive games and improves to 7-2 overall (5-1 SEC).

Georgia got off to a slow start and led only 7-3 after the first quarter. Branden Smith scored the lone touchdown after he took a hand off for 56 yards. In the second quarter, the Bulldog offense exploded for 42 points, 35 on TD passes from Murray and one on a rush by Brandon Harton.

Aaron Murray completed 18 of 23 passes for 238 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. His five TD’s were caught by Michael Bennett, Brandon Boykin, Chris Conley, Orson Charles and Aron White.

In the second half, Kyle Karempelis scored on a 1-yard rush and Rhett McGowan caught a 23 yard TD pass from backup quarterback Hutson Mason.

Georgia finished the game with 627 yards of total offense. The defense made their stops when they needed to, but did surrender 402 yards and a late touchdown.

With running backs Isaiah Crowell, Carlton Thomas and Ken Malcome suspended for the game, the Bulldog backups filled in admirably. Brandon Harton led the Dawgs with 15 rushes for 98 yards and one TD. Other Dawgs getting in on the action included  Kyle Karempelis (13-for-63; one TD), Branden Smith (2-for-58; one TD) and Wes Van Dyk (2-for-11).

Next up for Georgia is a huge home game against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, November 12. The kickoff time and television will be announced by the SEC on Sunday.
