Kentavious Caldwell-PopeGeorgia Bulldogs basketball signee Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been cleared to play in 2011 by the NCAA and the SEC, UGA announced on Tuesday.

Caldwell-Pope’s name came up during a police investigation in Columbus, GA into improper use of a parks and recreation department bank account. He allegedly received funds from an administrator of the account, along with UGA football player Jarvis Jones. Jones was cleared to play last month.

A 6-6, 185-pound shooting guard from Greenville, Georgia, is rated by Rivals.com as a 5-star recruit. Rivals also rated him 3rd at his position and 12th overall in the country.

From UGA:

The University of Georgia compliance office was notified by the NCAA on Tuesday that freshman basketball player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been cleared to compete in the 2011-12 season.

“I am pleased that the situation regarding Kentavious’ eligibility has been resolved” head coach Mark Fox said in a statement. “Kentavious can now put these issues behind him and focus on becoming a better student-athlete. We can all move forward in our preparations for the coming season.”
