Center John Cannon commits to the Hoop Dawgs

Center John Cannon has given a verbal commitment to Mark Fox and the Georgia Bulldogs. Cannon is the fifth 2010-11 commitment for the Hoop Dawgs.

Cannon (6-11, 230) plays for Mountain Heritage High School in Burnsville, North Carolina. He committed to UGA over offers from Northwestern, Old Dominion and a walk-on spot at North Carolina.

As a senior at Mountain Heritage, Cannon averaged 22 points, 12.5 rebounds and 7.5 blocks per game.

Rivals.com ranks Cannon as a 3-star recruit while Scout.com ranks him as a 2-star. Cannon will sign during the Spring signing period, which began Wednesday, April 13 and runs through Wednesday, May 18.

Cannon will join 2010-11 signees Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Tim Dixon, John Florveus and Nemanja Djurisic on next season’s roster.
