Georgia Shuts Out Vanderbilt 43-0

Uga VIII is 1-0. The Georgia Bulldogs welcomed their new mascot at homecoming by rolling over the Vanderbilt Commodores 43-0.

The game was Uga VIII’s first as the new sideline mascot after replacing the interim mascot “Russ.”

The win moves Georgia to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the SEC. The Dawgs are now tied for second place in the SEC East with the Florida Gators.

Quarterback Aaron Murray was 15-of-24 for 287 yards and threw touchdowns to Kris Durham and A.J. Green. Washaun Ealey led the Dawgs in rushing with 123 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown. Carlton Thomas also rushed for the first two touchdowns of his career.

The Bulldogs’ defense stifled the Commodores all day and kept them off of the scoreboard. Vanderbilt turned the ball over twice on an interception and a fumble.

Overall, the Georgia defense held Vandy to only 140 yards of total offense (82 passing, 52 rushing).

Next up for the Bulldogs is a trip to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:30 p.m. ET; CSS).
